Early Childhood Development Center (ECDC) is focused on the holistic care and development of children affected by parental incarceration. Through its Butterfly Home in Kathmandu, ECDC continues to provide a safe residential environment where children receive formal education, nutritious food, healthcare, and psychosocial support, ensuring they grow up outside prison walls while maintaining contact with their parents when possible. Alongside basic care and schooling, the organization emphasizes life skills and personal development by engaging children in creative, physical, and confidence-building activities that encourage leadership and self-reliance. ECDC also extends its work beyond the residential home by supporting education inside prisons, improving learning environments for incarcerated women and their children. In addition, ECDC runs ongoing scholarship, nutrition, health, vocational training, and reintegration programs to help children and families build stable, independent futures, while continuing advocacy to raise national and international awareness about the rights and needs of children of imprisoned parents.
